Thanks for the xmas letter. Margaret and I are doing fairly good. Hasn't snowed for a while. Earn lots of money but don't eat too much. Greetings to all.

I Mrs. Ruth Jensen have been employed at the Schultz Rest Home for over 8 1/2 years and it was that number of years the 1st of April 1962.

I wish to be discharged from the State Hospital at Lincoln, Nebraska. I wish to leave this place of employment as soonas possible. I also wish for my social security check to be mailed to me in my own name - Ruth Edith Jensen.

If any problems come up I woud like to talk to my brother at Blair, Nebraska. And that no out-siders to send me to any institution.

I will support my-self and pay my own bills.

Dear Marie - Enclosed you will find an Easter card.

Didn't you thnk it would be a good idea what I wrote about the material for an apron? I mean to cut the material  and use an old apron for a pattern. My machine is out of order so I can't sew now on it. What sewing I do I sew by hand.

I hope you are all well and don't take more colds.

Do you have your children's pets out-of-doors?

I enjoyed reading that green page about at the close of the old year. Thank you for it.

I sent the 1 page to Hilda which was intended for her.

When I was down town I looked for a photograph book but didn't find 1 that I liked. I was thinking that when I find 1 I will let you know. Then you can send me those kodak pictures and I can place them in the book and give it to her. I wrote to her recently and also talked over the telephone to her. She was at home, said she was very weak.

Marie, I was down town last Wednesday and I stopped to see Mr. Elmen. He said "you wrote a very nice letter to him." Thank you dear. He had been out to the hospital and talk to the Doctors, he said.

I was thinking of something you said over the telephone. "That something worries you." You don't need to worry over me dear. Just think how I have had to adjust to my problems.

And how I wish I could see Martin and that he would write at times. Do you suppose Martin was in New York at Christmas time or that his mail was kept for him until his return? I hope Martin received your letter.

Marie this is what Mr. Elmen said - "To tell the hospital that you will be responsible for me - your mother."

Please write the words to Mr. Elmen and then he will tell the Doctors at the State Hospital. When you write please ask Mr. Elmen to call me over the telephone when he has talked to the Doctor that I can be discharged so I can leave Lincoln.

Thanking you very much dear. I will try to call you next Thursday about the time I called you last time.

Last Wednesday when I was down town I bought a gift and card for Merrilyn.

Please don't delay dear about Mr. Elmen. Mrs. Schultz wants to buy another dress which I do not need. I wish to leave here as soon as possible.

I called my cousin Anna by telephone and I told her you were to visit me last summer. She said you had a nice family.

I wish you would send her an Easter card and perhaps a kodak picture of your-self.

It just occurred to me that I haven't written to thank you for your nice Christmas gifts. The kids all love their powder and I'm so fond of the pillow cases and serving pieces. They just match the kitchen - you'll see when you get here.

Dearest Mother,

I'll enclose the two letters - one to you and one to your friend Hilda - which I sent Dec. 31. I guess I must have been in a rush because the post office couldn't locate Lincoln without the Nebraska added on. Anyway, you'll know I thought of you. Evidently, all of the others got their letters, since yours was the only one that came back.

I finally got the letter all typed up and in the mail to Mr. Elmer. Sorry it took so long. Hope it does some good. If he replies to me, I'll let you know.

Thank you for sending the lovely materials to me for my birthday. It was the first birthday gift received. However, my birthday isn't until tomorrow. It will be a regular school day. Becky has hinted that she is going to make me an angel food cake.

Enclosed are some pictures we took last summer. The one with you, the children, and me was quite good, I think. The one with Garf is overexposed but I thought you might like it anyway. If you think Hilda would like copies of the one with you and the one with her son, I'll have some made.

Sorry to hear Hilda has been ill. She seemed like such a nice person. She treated us so wonderfully well that afternoon we were there.

Stevie said you called this afternoon when I was out for just such a short time. I had to take Ruthie to her job where she teaches crafts on Sunday afternoon. Stevie said you wanted to wish me a happy birthday. Thank you! He said he enjoyed talking with you.

Enclosed is a little check for $5.00. Maybe you can buy a box of candy with it and be reimbursed for that phone call today. Count the candy as a belated bithday gift. I had purchased a box of Whitman's Chocolates for you but when you said you preferred Stovers we ate 'em ourselves.

An announcement frm Merrilyn Jean announces the birth of Eric George Koslin on Feb. 5.

The Arizona Christmas Letter & 55th Anniversary Announcement

We're looking forward to your Christmas letter. Ours was hard to write this year because so many wonderful people (like you) were involved that we just couldn't name them all.

We're planning on your visit. Just say when. Please bring any family writing, etc. you want. We have spent a couple of weeks here with Bill and Maurine completing Durand records. Jensens and Norbys need a turn. By the way, I can't find my copy of "The Cemetery Run" or "David." Could I beg for another?

We'll talk lots more later. All of yuo have a wonderful Christmas.
