"This lady asked questions."

Omaha, Nebraska
Sept. 16, 1969

Dear Marie -

I received your welcome letter dated Sept. 7th and thank you so very much for what is contained. I am enclosing 2 bills to help pay for the telephone call I made.

I called yesterday to ask how your father was. And at the information desk the lady who answered said - "Mr. Jensen is now able to sit up and they feed him." Isn't that just remarkable I ask?

I said I hoped that he could soon go back to the Epply care center and the answer was - "You would have to ask the Dr.?" Oh I also asked if your father had received any flowers? And the lady didn't know.

If in case you wish to send any flowers I think he would prefer roses. The new Methodist hospital where you father is - is out at 84th and Dodge and the telephone number is 397-3000. Also 9th floor - room 917.

When I was out at Lottie's house she gave me your Aunt Paula's address. So I though that I would write to her. And yesterday I received a nice letter from her type-written in Danish. Since I couldn't read I asked another lady who is Danish to translate it and she read the letter. The leter was especially neatly written.

I sent Lottie and Betty each a birthday greeting card. I wonder if your sisters spent the occasion together.

Wouldn't it be a pleasure to live nearer your sisters so that you could go and visit one another? Why don't you think seriously about such a move? You have taken some serious steps in the past remember?

I was over to visit Dora and I hung some curtains over there. A lady came to call and the 3 of us sat at the kitchen table. This lady asked questions. When she lefted she went across the street to talk to those people. So if you wish to know about that lady's visit why not ask Grievious?

Marie it seems there was important matters to take care of, not just talk about them. When I talked to Mr. G over the telephone he said that something should be investigated. Why couldn't you take time to correct this situation about needs to be corrected? I wish that you could take time to come to Omaha and talk to some responsible person to take charge if you don't.

I was thinking about Betty writing those letters when Jean Rice was there at Emmet Street and I think it gave her ideas. Now to have the money and articles that's missing is a problem.

Poem for John.
When I go down town I will buy some birthday cards and send.

I have made bread like the enclosed wrapper shows. Try it.

Excuse writing. With love and best wishes.

I am,
As ever,
Mother
