My grandmother, Lottie, traveled a lot throughout the adult part of her life (post children leaving the house). She took me on my first plane ride (to California). And while travel can always be special, in her day it really was special. It was not always done.
There's a few of these traveler journals amongst the boxes...this one is all about money.
She traveled to Redding...oneto London, Vienna, Munich, and back to Omaha...
Blair to Bakersfield... Riga? to Lucerne...
(Riga doesn't make any sense...I don't think I'm reading this right...)
And then there are the exchange rates...
Then...
Canada $1 = 1.08 Canadian Dollars
India $1 = 7.40 Rupees
And Now...
Canada $1 = 1.03 Canadian Dollars
India $1 = 45.81 Rupees
Then...
Japan $1 = 360 Yen
Mexico $1 = 12.50 Pesos
And Now...
Japan $1 = 89.27 Yen
Mexico $1 = 12.72 Pesos
I find it interesting that our two neighbors have essentially the same exchange rates...
